350z Manual Transmission I am wondering, why is there not a recall on the 2003 Nissan 350Z transmission' there has been more than enough complaints on this years transmission. It is very dangerous to drive, because the transmission locks out of gear. I cannot even put it into 1st gear on a dead stop and sometimes while driving it won't even shift into gear. I feel very uncomfortable being on the road and feel for my safety and other drivers on the road. I have done some research on this 2003 Nissan 350Z year and model; and multiple complaints, and I feel more than enough to get a recall. People just don't know where to go to report this problem. I just stumbled upon this myself. This is the only car I have to drive to work and school, and everytime I get in it, I feel unsafe and ask myself when is it going to lock up on me again? for a $30,000 +, I feel Nissan owes us the right to have a car that is safe and drivable for many years to come. Please help me, what can I do to help you guys help all the owners of the 2003 350Z 's feel that they have a reliable, dependable and especially safe car. Today, I was heading to the store to grocery shop, I could not shift into first or second gear at a light, and had multiple cars behind me. I started to panic, because they were all honking, so I turned off the car. The cars that went around me threw the bird at me and some belittled me with some curse words. It was shameful and embarrassing. So I told myself I had to do something about this, so I called friends for support, and they told me that this was an ongoing problem for the 2003 Nissan 350Z. The transmission is a big problem. Either grinding going into gear or locking out of gear. So then I ask myself, who do I turn to' and I found you guys after hours of researching. I need your help. We need this years transmission to be recalled, because it is dangerous for us as the driver, and all the other people on the roads. Nissan needs to step up to the plate and fix this problem, they know its there.

The contact owns a 2003 Nissan 350Z. The contact purchased the vehicle only for long distance driving. As soon as she began driving the vehicle, she smelled rubber inside the passenger compartment. The dealer stated that the smell would dissipate and was present because the vehicle was new; however, the odor remained. While driving 60 mph, the vehicle would not shift from second into third gear. The failure occurred without warning. The vehicle coasted to the side of the road and was towed to the dealer. The dealer stated that the clutch and the fly wheel were burnt. The contact called Nissan customer service to assist with the cost because it was no longer under warranty; however, they denied her claim. She wants Nissan to assist with the $2,300 repair cost. The failure mileage was 17,000. Updated 11/7/08 updated 11/13/08.

Bought a 2003 Nissan 350Z used from keyes Nissan of woodland hills, ca. Tiptronic (auto/semi-manual) transmission needed to be replaced within 45 days. Now a whining noise that is still not fixed as well as excessive heat from shifter area that causes passengers to sweat & scalding hot to touch. Car hasn't seemed to run right since. Seems every 350Z owner has the same atypical problems-tire feathering, transmissions replaced, rear axles, power window motors fail(the last 2 are my next trip to the dealer). Nissan needs to fix our nightmare. Nissan support is nonexistent as well, which makes your ordeal all the more miserable.

I have a 2003 Nissan 350Z and I'm having problems with grinding when I shift into 3rd gear(manual) I have only 20K miles on my stock car no major modifications done. I have taken it to Nissan and they tried to duplicate the problem but nothing was found and when they told me to drive it I found my car shifting like butter I was amazed on how smooth it was. After a few days the problem is back like it was temporarily fixed or something because it gradually started getting to where it was before I took it in. Now I don't know if I should take it back or am I stuck. I have done some talking with other 'Z' owners on a well known message board and over the years hundreds have got their transmission replaced and hundreds haven't depending on dealerships.

Manual Transmission problem of the 2006 Nissan 350Z 1

On 10/6/2010 I took my vehicle in for an oil change and evaluation of problem in shifting manual transmission. The transmission had problem with 1-2 and 4-3 shifts with grinding and difficulty shifting. The car was found to have a faulty transmission. The vehicle was also found to have, as stated by the tech, no visible oil in the engine. This indicates a consumption of 5+ quarts within 6500 miles. A TSB by Nissan: ntb07-088 dates back to 2007 of high oil consumption. The newest TSB (ntb07-088d) only replaces the short-block of the engine as was done by the dealer. This has not addressed the damage of the engine due to oil starvation, as the TSB covers only partial oil consumption, not near total as in this case. As of the repair, the engine has a rougher idle and the new transmission is still difficult to shift from now 1-2 and 5-6.

Slave cylinder and clutch problems with my 2007 Nissan 350z. I bought the car used in October of 2008. A month after purchasing it I took off from a stop light and the clutch slipped very bad. I looked into, it, saw the slave cylinder was a recall and brought it in. I asked about the clutch and replacing it and they said no because the clutch is a wear item. Yes its a wear item, but no clutch should be slipping at 20,000mi. The reason the clutch slips is because of the slave cylinder. Even after the recall was the done the clutch still slips and the dealership refuses to replace the clutch.

Hello I have a 2008 Nissan 350z 6 speed manual base model, that I had brought in Dec 12 of 2007 brand new. Since then the clutch on the car has gotten stuck three times. All three times are random. Twice was on the highway and once while doing a u turn. The cause of this is burning up my clutch and the Nissan dealerships here in the orlando area are giving me the classic dealership run around. I call Nissan on there 1-800-Nissan-1 number and said they cant do anything until the dealer looks at it, with a possible charge of $600. 00 for looking it at. My car is at 22,000 today on Dec 3 2008. Nissan power train warranty is until 3 years 36,000 miles, but to check the car is at my cost. Nissan has reported on the slaver cylinder recall, but they say that's what might not be wrong with it.

Manual Transmission problem of the 2007 Nissan 350Z 17

The clutch on my 2007 350z sounds like it is going to blow up. In traffic I am embarrassed as everyone looks around to see where the noise is coming from. . . I know some noise is common but this noise goes over the radio at a high volume, this cant be normal or safe sounds like its going to crack in half. . .

The 3rd gear was grinding then second started to grind too therefore I had the transmission rebuilt at my expense and other transmission problems persist and also have the tire feathering/tire growl issue which I've took the car varies times to the alignment shop.

Manual Transmission problem of the 2004 Nissan 350Z 19

There is something in the clutch system that is causing the clutch and other parts to burn fast and earlier than usual. The previous owner of my 2004 Nissan 350z had the same problem. 2 new clutches at $2,500 each by the time it hit 35,000 miles. I bought the car not knowing about the problem and the clutch completely burned out while I was driving on the highway. Luckily I was not in the fast lane like I usually am and was able to safely pull over to the side of the road. I paid $2,500 to replace the clutch parts again. It is now less than 3 years later and it is happening again. Nissan dealer claims this must be user error and nothing wrong with the system yet agrees that is very hard to burn a clutch that fast as an experienced manual transmission driver. I've found others with the same problem but no resolution.

When I push the clutch in the noise goes away, when I let it back out the noise comes back. My previous car was a 99 Nissan sentra. I put over a hundred thousand miles on that car and never even saw a check engine light. Now I have a $30,000 car with only 10,000 miles on it and my tranny is going out and I'm not the only person with this problem.

2005 Nissan 350z. The consumer states the vehicle stalls when going over 70 mph, this also occurs at lower speeds. There is no warning that this is going to occur. The service engine soon light comes on after the vehicle completely looses power. The vehicle has to be turned all the way off to be started. The vehicle has been taken to the dealership and they replaced the crank shaft sensor. The problem is happening again. This has happened approximately 7 times. This has not caused any accidents.

I have been hearing this rattle for a while already and I took the car to the dealer and they say is normal I don't think this is true. I have a 350z Nissan I first bought it, it didn't do this noise. The thing that worries me about this is that it is a lot louder. I find that when I turn the car off you can hear the rattle louder and clearer. It look to me that is the throw-out bearing but I dont think they eant to do the job and the car still under warranty I dont know what to do. I already call Nissan but they dont do anything.

Manual Transmission problem of the 2004 Nissan 350Z 28

I purchased a 2004 Nissan 350z roadster. The day after purchase I noticed a clanking noise when turning off engine. I took to my local dealer and was told this is normal. That was at 6500 miles. At the 15000 mile scheduled maintenance I reported that the problem is getting worse. Same response normal. There is nothing normal about it. I am worried that when the warranty is up it will all of a sudden not be normal and I will be stuck with the cost. I have read numerous complaints on the internet about this same issue with no Nissan response. Nissan needs to step up to the plate and provide some answers and assistance. I will be taking my car to the dealer now at 27000 and letting them hear how worse it has gotten also to have them repair the soft top that on the passenger side rear corner is just coming loose at the seems.
