We recently had an in person talk with Amir Salihefendic, the founder of Todoist and below you will find all the key points of our discussion:
A DM is a smaller Slack conversation outside a channel and can be between the user and up to 8 people. This is the perfect place for one-off chats or messages that should remain private. Note: You can also find the Slack bot in the DM section. With a Slack account, you can make voice or video calls to teammates.

Sneak peek at something that's coming in 2019 to Todoist 🙌 — This is a very rough draft, and we don't have a release date yet, but we are very excited about boards, and they're coming to every platform. pic.twitter.com/4RXOwDhHSx
— Amir Salihefendić (@amix3k) 13 de diciembre de 2018Summary of what to expect:
Boards, the feature we’ve all been waiting for is finally coming!
Section headers are becoming real objects
Task details are changing into a card-like format with mini projects containing subtasks
Invisible changes to code: front-end, back-end modernisation
Reducing complexity while making the app more powerful
Upcoming Changes
Slack To Do List
Some innovation is coming to Twist soon: Ability to close threads and finish a discussion off with a conclusion ✅ I'm excited to see how this will change our workflows as a big problem is that discussions rarely end and the conclusions are unclear. All kudos goes to the team 👏 pic.twitter.com/lfH3xm0swM
— Amir Salihefendić (@amix3k) 6 de junio de 2019Sticking to the philosophy of intentional task management, the new Todoist will bring a clean, minimalist interface that reduces distractions and ups your productivity. Complexity will be reduced but the app will pack more punch.
Section headers are set to become real objects, this will make it easier to structure projects
Archiving of sections will become available
Tasks will now belong to sections, similar to Things 3
Upcoming Releases
The big release we are all looking forward to is the boards feature. And to prepare for the boards launch the structure of Todoist will have to undergo a few changes. This involves simplifying the product by removing features that will no longer be necessary. In addition to boards being added, changes will be made to task details.
Boards: This will require the removal of task indents, sub-sub tasks are being removed
TaskDetails: Tasks are set to become mini projects with sub-tasks, with a card-like format or board view

Changes and modernization of Todoist
We are working on some incredible Todoist updates across all platforms. We are calling this improving the Todoist Foundations. Here's a rough draft of task details (that will open when you tap a task). Thoughts? 😊 pic.twitter.com/tEyLkMzjXk
— Amir Salihefendić (@amix3k) 16 de enero de 2019To facilitate the implementation of all the exciting upcoming features a lot of code modernization will have to be made. These changes are not visible but they are very important.
Improving and modernizing code basis, back-end, front-end, and infrastructure model which will open up room for the exciting upcoming features
Improving stability through better engineering
